Department of Veterans Affairs Upstate NY VA Healthcare System (VISN 2), Albany NY is seeking qualified firms to perform mock JCAHO hospital surveys at each VISN 2 facilities (Albany, Bath, Buffalo, Canandaigua, and Syracuse) to assist in the preparation for the regular JCAHO triennial surveys tentatively scheduled for October through November, 2000. The mock survey process will focus on the performance of functions as described in the Comprehensive Accreditation Manual for Hospitals: The Official Handbook (CAMH) and other specialty manuals across the organization. The purpose of the mock surveys is to identify problems and issues that must be resolved so that compliance with the JCAHO standards is achieved and maintained. The surveys will be conducted like an actual survey including development of a survey agenda, document reviews, patient and staff interviews, and visits to patient care settings incorporating visits during evening and night shifts. Flexibility in the survey agenda is negotiated withthe individual facility. The surveyors will also provide consultation on the best methods to achieve the standards and solutions for identified problems/issues.
