The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has a requirement for Type B Cask shipment of Irradiated Hardware. This requirement includes Type B cask shipment of a single Irradiated Hardware Liner for disposal at the Barnwell CNSI LLRW disposal facility. Contractor to provide Type B cask, transportation, and waste brokerage services. The shipment classification shall be, "RQ, Radioactive Material, n.o.s.-7-2982, Exclusive Use Shipment", transporting a single package, a Type B certified cask, with a "Yellow-III" label. The waste classification for the disposal container shall be, "Class C Low Level Radioactive Waste" comprised of activated solid metal components. A complete Statement of Work, including specifications for the cask, will be provided with the RFP. The Government anticipates a requirements type contract. The period of performance will be a base period of 12 months, with four 1-year options. The Contractor and NIST shall mutually agree upon the scheduled date of the first cask shipment at time of award of the contract. The contractor shall provide this shielded cask transportation service from NIST, Gaithersburg, MD to Barnwell, S.C.
