4A1, 011441179131247 The MoD is establishing an All Arms, tri-Service
programme for the procurement of Future Integrated Soldier Technology
(FIST). FIST will enhance the operational effectiveness of dismounted
soldiers undertaking a broad range of defence missions in various
climates/terrains. The FIST programme embraces digitisation aspects
that will be implemented within Dismounted Close Combat at the company
level. The DCC IPT announces the opportunity for industry to attend a
second FIST Industry briefing Day, planned for the 19th April at
Warminster Training Centre, Warminster Garrison, Wiltshire. The
Briefing will take forward many of the key project issue's presented at
the FIST Industry Briefing day held at Abbey Wood last July. Industrial
Involvement in the FIST project is to form a vital component of the
procurement strategy over the next 18 months leading up to the Initial
Gate submission. The Briefing day will be centered around the
following three main areas of information: (1) Findings from the FIST
Requirement Definition Programme Study; (2) Presentation of the latest
FIST Outline Procurement Strategy including timeliness for proposed
industrial involvement; (3) Demonstration of the FIST 2000 Technology
Demonstrator equipment. Those companies wishing to register an interest
in participating in the FIST programme should provide the following
information to the Issuing Branch by 24 March 2000. (1) Details of
those individuals (and their position) who would like to attend the
Industrial Briefing Day. Companies should note that an inability to
attend the Industrial Briefing Day will not necessarily preclude
Companies from being considered. (Please note that the Department
reserves the right to limit levels of representation should demand for
places prove high); (2) Supply of company information including
details of ownership and affiliation to other organizations, size of
organization, nature of business and key areas of expertise and
capability, together with any relevant trade literature. Additional
information ofany involvement with Soldier System Programs world wide
is also required. FOR THOSE COMPANIES WHO RESPONDED TO THE CBD ADVERT,
DATED 12TH JULY 1999, ISSUE NO. PSA-2385, NO IMMEDIATE ACTION IS
REQUIRED, AS AN INVITATION TO THE BRIEFING WILL AUTOMATICALLY BE
