B -- OCEAN FEATURES ANALYSIS SOL 52-SPNA-0-00043 DUE 050100 POC Richard May, 301-713-1677 x 127 The NWS, NOAA is considering adding the NAVY's Ocean Features Analysis (OFA) to its suite of marine products broadcast via U.S. Coast Guard radiofacsimile stations to mariners at sea. The NAVY makes these available via Internet to the public with unlimited distribution authorized, however, most mariners do not have access to Internet while at sea. The OFA is used by mariners for many purposes, including: avoiding areas of dangerous waves, more efficiently navigating their vessels and to better target the location of certain marine species.
