On or about 27 March 2000, this office will issue Invitation for Bids for the construction of Mod-Infrastructure Improvements, PN 5002776D, Repair Grade Beams Bldgs 3A-01 & 04/Replace Raildocks Yard L, Iowa Army Ammunition Plant, Iowa.. Bids will be opened on or about 27 April 2000. Solicitation of Bids will be Restricted to SBA 8 (a) Firms and Competitively Bid. Contractors interested in inspecting the site of the proposed work should contact the Burlington Project Office (Attn: Debra Wallin or Gary Gidley), U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Iowa AAP c/o Army Mailroom/Box 13, Middletown, Iowa 52638, Telephone: (319) 753-7808. The work will include the following: (Approx. quantities) Removal and replacement of 10-foot by 500-foot concrete railroad loading docks at 18 buildings; and Repair of approximately 1850 linear feet of 10-foot wide concrete railroad loading docks. Repairs consist of removal and replacement of concrete grade beams each side of expansion joints, removal and patching of unsound concrete, and sealing of cracks. The estimated construction cost of this project is between $2,500,000 and $5,000,000. Contractor's Quality Control will be a requirement in this contract. The Contractor will be required to commence work within 10 days after notice to proceed and complete the work 180 calendar days after receipt of Notice to Proceed. Provisions will be included for liquidated damages in case of failure to complete the work in the time allowed. Performance and payment bonds will be required. The plans and specifications are available on Compact Disk (CD-ROM) and will be provided free of charge. It has been determined that the number of Compact Disks be limited to one (1) per firm. Plans and Specifications will not be provided in a printed hard copy format.
