The work site is located in the Cape Fear River with the upstream and downstream limits of the work located approximately 5.7 miles and 8.6 miles, respectfully, downstream from the Cape Fear River Memorial Bridge, Wilmington, North Carolina. The work will consist of deepening the existing navigation channel and providing wideners at three turns. The work will require the removal and disposal of sediment and rock to provide a channel depth of -43 feet mean lower low water (MLLW) plus 2 feet of allowable overdepth. Removal of rock by drilling and blasting will be allowed under this contract. Disposal of all dredged material will be in the Wilmington Ocean Dredged Material Disposal Site (ODMDS). The total quantity of material to be dredged, including allowable overdepth, is estimated to be about 2.2 million cubic yards. The magnitude of this project is over $10,000,000. A Pre-Bid Conference (date and time to be announced in the solicitation) will be held for all perspective bidders. 2.AVAILABILITY AND CHARGE: THE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR THIS SOLICITATION WILL BE ON CD-ROM AND WILL BE PROVIDED FREE OF CHARGE AND SHOULD NOT BE RETURNED. Plans and Specifications will not be provided in a printed paper hard copy form. Amendments will be made through either a 3.5" Diskette, CD-ROM, or hard copy. The CD-Rom contains simple window viewing application and two commercial software applications. All applications contained on the CD-ROM can be run from the CD-ROM. No installation is required. The recommended minimum hardware requirements are (1) 486/66 personal computer; (2) 8 OR 16 MB RAM; (3) CD-ROM drive; (4) Windows driven printer. The recommended minimum software requirement is Microsoft Windows 3.1, Windows95, or Windows NT.
