project consists of the renovation and addition to the existing Sandia
Ranger District office building. In addition to renovating the
existing two-story, 4,020 square foot office building, the project
includes providing approximately 5,260 square feet of additional heated
office space including conference room, employee lounge, public
lobby/reception area, and restrooms. The building renovation will also
include removal of asbestos containing materials and lead-based paint.
New plumbing, HVAC, electrical, gas, and lighting, will be provided for
the entire building. Utility work includes an extension of the Village
of Tijeras' 6" pvc water main and the installation of fire hydrants,
valves, valve boxes, water meters, and lateral water lines as well as
installation of 1-1/2" and 2-1/2" pvc water lines. Utility work for the
septic system includes the rehabilitation of the existing 4" sewer line
and lift station. This involves converting the old force-main sewer
line to gravity flow and constructing anew 4" diameter sewer line to
connect to the Village of Tijeras sewer system manhole. Work will
include installing a dual grinder-pump sewage pumping system, and
demolishing the old septic tank components. The wiring of the new
system includes removal of an overhead power line and installation of
an underground power line. Work includes removal and replacement of 4"
asbestos/concrete sewer pipe in various locations. The project
includes reconstruction of the existing 22-car parking lot into a
39-car, 2-bus parking lot; landscaping with irrigation; construction of
a masonry retaining wall; construction of a concrete plaza, accessible
ramp, curb and gutter, and sidewalks. A 130-square foot vault toilet
building will also be constructed near the visitor parking lot. The
project shall include all work listed plus other minor items of work in
accordance with the drawings, specifications and requirements of the
contract. A bid bond, performance bond, and payment bond is required.
The construction contract will be firm fixed-price between $1,000,000
and $5,000,000. Bidding documents will be available on or about April
3, 2000 at a cost of $40.00 per set, NON-REFUNDABLE. Make checks/money
orders payable to USDA Forest Service. DO NOT SEND CASH. Please submit
written requests for solicitation to the above address, include name,
address, and solicitation number. We will not accept telephone
requests. This a negotiated solicitation, therefore the number of
offers received, the identity of offerors, amount of any one offer, or
relative standing will not be disclosed except to Government personnel
whose official duties require such information until award of contract
is made. The Government reserves the right to reject any or all
offers. Award will be based on a best value basis. There will be one
scheduled site visit on Tuesday, April 11 at 10:00 am. Interested
