COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF MARCH 20,2000 PSA#2560PRESOLICITATION CONFERENCE Prior to issuance of the solicitation for
construction of the Advanced Measurement Laboratory (AML), the National
Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is hosting a conference to
promote small business, including small disadvantaged, women-owned and
HUBZone business participation. The conference will be held at 1:00
p.m., April 6, 2000 at the Green Auditorium, Administration Building,
NIST, 100 Bureau Drive, Gaithersburg, MD 20899. The proposed AML will
be one of the most technologically advanced buildings in the world. No
existing laboratory combines the features of close temperature
control, vibration isolation, air cleanliness, and power quality.

http://aml.nist.gov. The magnitude of construction for the AML is
between $140,000,000 and $170,000,000. NIST will issue a best value
solicitation in May 2000 with award no later than September 2000.
Conference events will include remarks by senior management of the U.S.
Department of Commerce (DoC) and NIST followed by briefings by the
Contracting Officer and Deputy Director for Facilities on the upcoming
procurement. Breakout sessions will permit small businesses the chance
to meet and network with prime contractors regarding potential
subcontracting and representatives from the DoC and NIST Office of
Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization concerning business
opportunities. All interested parties are invited to participate.
