The U.S. Air Force, Air Combat Command (ACC), is tasked with the operations, maintenance, and support of the Tethered Aerostat Radar System (TARS). The primary mission of TARS is to support the U.S. Customs Service, and the North American Air Defense Command (NORAD) in counter-narcotics and drug surveillance missions in support of U.S. national security objectives. The program consists of 11 sites along the Gulf Coast, Southwest and Puerto Rico (PR). This is a sources sought synopsis seeking names of potential offerors for Operations, Maintenance and Support of the TARS contract. This contract will provide services necessary to perform operations, maintenance, and support (OM&S) at all current and future sites. Anticipated contract start date is October 01, 2001. Performance period is projected to include a base period and four to six options. ACC is accomplishing market research in an attempt to promote full and open competition to the maximum extent practicable, and to define our requirements inperformance based terms. This is not a formal Request for Proposal, and no contract will result from this synopsis. Any subsequent solicitation will be synopsized prior to its release. The SIC code for this effort is anticipated to be 4899. A determination as to set aside status has not yet been made. Potential offerors may comment on this requirement, or recommend application and tailoring of requirement documents or alternative approaches, by contacting the ACC CONS representatives listed below. Potential offerors are requested to identify any documentation they desire to view in order for the Government to determine the most efficient way to provide the information. This acquisition will be initiated with a conference for government and industry representatives on 17 May 00. Information regarding the conference, conference location, agenda, current contracts, draft PWS, draft RFP, and other pertinent information will be posted to EPS.
