Specialist, 301-496-2302 The National Institutes of Health, Office of
Science Policy, Office of Science Education has a requirement for the
development, production and distribution of science curriculum
supplements. Supplements must comply with the National Science
Education Standards. (A copy of this publication is available on the
Internet at http://www.nap.edu/readingroom/books/nses) . The period of
performance is three years. The offeror will develop three science
curriculum supplements, based upon the following themes: 1) Using
Technology to Study Cellular and Molecular Biology; (Target Group:
General biology high school students in grades 9-12), and 2) Healthy
Nutrition; (Target Group: General biology high school students in
grades 9-12), and 3) The Brain: Our Sense of Self (Target Group: Middle
School students in grades 6-9). The offeror is expected to field test
the supplements in schools across the nation. Those schools are to have
a population that represent the intellectual and diversity spectrum
found in American secondary schools. All of the supplements will be in
the public domain. NIH intends for the materials to be freely
reproduced for classroom use. It is also the intention of the NIH to
reproduce copies of the materials for distribution to schools across
the nation. NIH does not intend for the materials to be used by
commercial organizations for sale or profit. All materials developed
for the curriculum supplements must be in two formats: print and Aweb
ready@. Any multimedia that is created must be AWeb Ready@ and be able
to run under all of the most popular web browsers eg. Netscape=s
Navigator, Microsoft=s Internet Explorer, etc. utilizing both Macintosh
and Windows platforms. The offeror will be expected to provide 500
finished and complete copies of each supplement. Solicitations will be
issued on or about April 1,2000. Only written requests will be
honored. No telephone requests will be accepted. All requests should
include name of organization and points of contacts with phone and fax
numbers. Please include the solicitation number on all requests.
Offerors proposals will be evaluated on meeting the needs of the
requirement. The Government reserves the right to make an award to the
best advantage of the Government, cost and other factors considered.
