NASA/GSFC plans to issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ)565-71211-709 for 2 each -- Pnuematic Telescopic Mast with locking collars, T-handles antenna platform and internal mounting hardware. Model no. TDM-7-42-467. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). NASA/GSFC intends to purchase the items from Direction Technology, Inc. P.O.Box 911, Centerville, VA 20122-0911. NASA/Wallops Flight Facility already houses and uses the TDM-7-42-467 and to purchase from another vendor would require NASA to invest money and time to modify the existing mobile command trailers on the floor and ceiling structure. Therefore, recommendation is made to procure from Direction Technology, Inc. Delivery is requested on or about May 25, 2000. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. localtime on April 3, 2000. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government.
