U.S. Army ARDEC is seeking information and potential sources to procure a limited quantity of a non-development 40mm dud-reducing cartridge for test and evaluation. Candidate cartridges must meet the 40mm M430 performance require- ments of MIL-C-50863 and, as revised by users,must contain an improved fuze design, compatible with existing U.S. components, that will increase reliability when fired at graze angles on soft terrain. Once a solicitation is released, interested contractor(s) will be required to submit a quantity of 75 each, bid samples, at his own expense, to the Government for required testing. The bid samples would be evaluated by the government based on essential and pre-specified performance criteria to verify the increased reliability without degradation in performance. Selection would be made by the Government based on the ability to best meet this criteria. The subsequent RFQ will require that 4500 each, M430A1 dud-reducing cartridges be delivered approximately 12 months after contractaward for required qualification testing.
