As a result of the U.S. Department of Commerce National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) Document #31379/1, dated 00Feb28, this material will be procured for military use only and not for commercial use. This equipment must operate in the frequency range of 380-399.9. Narrow band operation is desirable. SPAWAR, Charleston anticipates awarding two fixed priced, Indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity, type contracts. The awards will be sole source for one base year and four option years. It is intended that one award will be made to Ericsson, Inc, estimated at ten million dollars and one award will be made to Motorola, Inc, estimated at ten million dollars. Ericsson, Inc, and Motorola, Inc. are the only sources capable of manufacturing the Land Mobile Radio (LMR) systems to meet the current compatibility and proprietary requirements. No other equipment will meet the agency's requirements. It is anticipated that the solicitations will be available for release on 31Mar00.
