The U.S. Army seeks prospective sources qualified to develop tool head(s) and processes to surface finish the inside of a 155mm rifled gun barrel (approximately 30 feet in length). Initial surface will be straight within 0.001"/0.1", surface finish of 250 to 500 micro-inches, and hardness of 700 to 900 Knoop hardness. Clean-up stock is expected to be 0.002" per side (nominal). Final finish will be straight within 0.001"/12" and surface finish to 32 micro-inch RMS. Any responsible/interested sources shall submit their qualifications and capabilities within fifteen (15) days of this notice.
