C -- A/E TO CORRECT VOLTAGE, UPDATE ELECTRIC(C) SOL 596-23-00 DUE 050300 POC Mildred Caywood, Contractng Officer, 606/281-3958 Services of an Architect/Engineer firm wtih specialized experience in design and construction of hospital electrical projects to participate in schematic development, investigation, design, working drawings/construction documents, and construction period services for Project 596-00-102, Correct Voltage, Update Electric(c), at VA Medical Center, Cooper Drive Division, Lexington, KY. Project involves correction of a high voltage deficiency which exists in the original structure of Cooper Drive Division. Design voltage for this section of the facility is 13,800 volts, however, since the structure was built the utility company has reduced their delivered voltage to 12,470 volts. The project will install a regulator to increase the voltage back to design voltage. The project will also change out two GE Magna-Blast breakers currently on the incoming feeds. These two breakers are original 1973 vintage equipment. Additionally, other switchgear in the main distribution room will be replaced as needed; exact items will be identified during the design phase. Project drawings will be required in the AutoCAD.dwg format. Estimated construction cost range is between $250,000 and $500,000. Area of consideration is restricted to businesses within 100 mile radius of VA Medical Center, Lexington, KY.
