The VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System (VAPHS), University Drive Division,
Pittsburgh, PA 15240 has a requirement for Medical Physicist services
in its Radiation Therapy Department. The estimated contract period is
July 1, 2000 -- June 30, 2001. If the Medical Physicist providing
services is not board certified, he/she must be under the supervision
of a Medical Physicist certified in therapeutic radiological physics by
the American Board of Radiology or the American Board of Medical
Physics. The Medical Physicist will be available on site or by
telephone during regular working hours of 7:00 A.M. -- 3:30 P.M. Monday
-- Friday for consultation and didactic discussion of patient treatment
planning and other physics related subjects with Radiation Therapy
personnel. The Medical Physicist shall be present on-site at the VAPHS
approximately 16-20 hours per week. Contractor employee(s) will be
paid only for hours actually worked on site at the VAPHS. Physics
services to be provided include double-checking all calculations of new
field treatments, providing calculations/treatment plans during
Dosimetrist's absence, performing dosimetry measurements (diode/TLD
dosimetry and ion chamber measurements), assisting with treatment
devices [(excluding mold room) including localization, design, simple;
localization, design, intermediate; and localization, design,
complex], performing patient weekly physics chart checks, performing
accelerator physics quality assurance for the simulator and 2100C and
600C linear accelerators (including annual full calibrations), and
performing miscellaneous physics services. The offeror will provide
hourly rate(s) and submit a technical proposal addressing the
evaluation factors outlined in the solicitation. The estimated
solicitation issue date is April 10, 2000, and the estimated due date
for receipt of proposals is May 10, 2000 (C.O.B.). All requests for the
solicitation package must be submitted in writing to Linda Glancy at

submit an offer which shall be considered by the Agency. The portion of
the contract October 1, 2000 -- June 30, 2001 is subject to the
