intends to award a nonpersonal service contract to the individual or
company rated the best value to provide surgical vitrectomy services to
the inmate population housed at the Federal Medical Center, Lexington,
Kentucky. This procurement is 100% set aside for small business. This
is a nonpersonal service contract and not a personnel appointment. The
contract period shall include a base year not to exceed 12 months and
four one year option periods. Responsibilities include but are not
limited to: to provide an off site surgical location to provide
necessary services to perform and accomodate inmates needing
vitrectomies. The off site location shall have a diathermy unit and the
contractor shall provide ancillary services to include laboratory,
pharmacy, anesthesia supplies, necessary medical/surgical supplies,
recovery room, private hospital room, EKG, anesthisia supplies,
ambulatory surgical care and patient convenience items. The contract
facility shall be within a 20 mile radius of the FMC. The anticipated
issue date of solicitations is March 30, 2000 with an anticipated quote
due date of April 19, 2000. Requests for the solicitation package may
