The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIRSYSCOM) Patuxent River intends to award 10 additional Communication Improvement Program (CIP) kits via modification to contract N00019-99-C-0133 to Lockheed Martin Aeronautical Systems Corporation, 86 South Cobb Drive, Marietta, GA 30063. The original option in the contract calls for 12 kits and with the pending modification, the quantity will be increased to 22 kits. As the designer, developer and sole manufacturer of the S-3B aircraft and the developer and prime integrator of the initial S-3B CIP development, LMASC is the only source that possesses the necessary technical expertise to meet critical schedule requirements to perform the total weapons systems integration effort. It is in the Government's best interest to award sole-source to Lockheed Martin Aeronautical Systems Corporation and is done so under FAR 6.302-1: Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements.
