NASA/MSFC plans to issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for Ultrasonic Immersion Tank to include the following: Item 1: ULTRASONIC IMMERSION TANK WITH THE FOLLOWING SALIENT FEATURES: 48"W X 72"L X 54" D WITH ACTIVE SCAN AREA 36"W X 60"L X 48"D HEAVY DUTY TANK VERSION STAINLESS STEEL BRIDGE GUIDE RAIL ASSEMBLY 1.5" DIAMETER X-AXIS DRIVE RACK ASSEMBLY DRIVEN FROM BOTH SIDES TWO INDEPENDENTLY DRIVEN CARRIAGES AND THREE GUIDE RAIL (1.25" DIAMETER RAILS ARE NEEDED) DESIGN TWO (2) THREE AXES MOTORIZED MANIPULATORS WITH GIMBAL/SWIVEL MOTION 2" SEARCH TUBES WHICH UTILIZE Z AXES LINEAR BALL BUSHINGS Z AXIS TRANSMISSION WILL REQUIRE HIGH SPEED CONTINUOUS SCANNING ALL THREE AXES SHALL BE SERVO MOTOR DRIVEN WITH ENCODERS. THE TANK SHALL HAVE A 24" DIAMETER TURNTABLE WITH THREE JAW SELF CENTERING CHUCK THE TURNTABLE DRIVE SHALL BE THROUGH THE TANK BOTTOM. THE SERVO DRIVE MOTOR WITH ENCODER SHALL BE LOCATED OUTSIDE THE TANK UNDER THE BRIDGE ARKING AREA. TURNTABLE WILL HAVE 1000 POUND CAPACITY AND BE CAPABLE OF SPEEDSUP TO 20 RPM. THE WORK SURFACE OF THE THREE JAW CHUCK SHALL BE APPROXIMATELY 10" FROM THE TANK BOTTOM. QUANTITY: 1 EACH. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). NASA/MSFC intends to purchase the items from TESTECH INC., 115 SUMMIT DRIVE, EXTON, PA 19341. This recommendation is made pursuant to FAR 13.106-1(b)(1). The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on March 31, 2000. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government.
