Elder, (770)488-2654; Danny Hager, (770)488-2610 The Government plans to replace five existing laboratory buildings with a new laboratory building to house the National Center for Infectious Disease at the CDC Chamblee Campus. The replacement building will be predominately laboratory and laboratory support space. The building will be built in two phases. The first phase will include demolition of two existing buildings and partial construction of the new building. The second phase will consist of demolition of three existing buildings and final construction. A single construction contract will be issued for both phases. The replacement building is anticipated to be constructed with concrete slab-on-grade floor, CMU walls with predominantly brick masonry veneer, a steel truss flat roof, and an exterior of brick veneer with horizontal wall panels. The buildings to be demolished consist primarily of single story wood frame barracks structures with raised wood floors on CMU piers. One building is a pre-engineered metal laboratory building with a concreteslab-on-grade floor. All five buildings contain hazardous materials such as asbestos transite wall shingles and vinyl asbestos floor tiles. These must be removed prior to building demolition. Solicitation release date is currently anticipated to occur on or about April 20, 2000. A Pre-Proposal Site Visit will be scheduled and is anticipated to occur on or about May 16, 2000. Proposal Due Date is currently planned for Jun 7, 2000. The Contract Performance Period will be 750 calendar days. Solicitation and award is anticipated to be UNRESTRICTED.
