additional, mgoslow@usgs.gov. The U.S. Geological Survey proposes to
purchase two identical 23 foot Jet Boats. The boats shall be of
utilitarian design and outfitting. Strenght in hull construction is a
high priority since these boats will be placed in service as
multifunction research vessels. The vessels will be used primarily on
the columbia and snake rivers in all weather conditions common to these
locations, operated 24 hours per day for up to 10 days at a time, and
required at times to operate in close proximity to rocky shorelines.
Operations are expected to include but not limited to, support of
diving operations, radio-tracking, transporting juvenile salmonids,
hydroacoustics, measuring water velocity, and other fisheries and
limnological sampling activities. Vendor must provide repair service
and maintenance under the warrantee and therefore must be within a
radious of 350 miles from our laboratory,located in cook, washington.
In order to meet contractual obligations the equipment will be needed
on or before july 1, 2000. this will give USGS personnel time to water
test and properly outfit the vessels prior to the spring field season.
The manufacturer or their agent will perform an on the water test with
an employee of the USGS who is trained in department of interior
boating safety course prior to delivery to ensure proper operation of
all systems. USGS personnel will take delivery of the vessels at the
