Franzen, Phone: (810) 574-7307 DESC: TACOM is preparing to issue a solicitation for a lightweight adjustable spreader bar. This Special Announcement is soliciting information from potential sources interested in and capable of providing a lightweight adjustable spreader bar that can be used by U.S. Army cranes to safely lift and move 20 Foot and 40 Foot ANSI and ISO containers. This announcement is to provide offerors advance notification of our intentions and to seek responses to the Market Investigation Questionnaire and comments on the Draft Purchase Description (DPD), which will be posted to the http://www.tacom.army.mil/acqcen/ssn/sources.htm homepage by 28 Mar 2000. All responses and comments must be received no later than close of business 14 APR 2000. Description of the lightweight adjustable spreader bar is defined as being compatible used with the Army's 40 Ton Rough Terrain Container Crane (RTCC), Grove Model RT875CC, having expandable lengths and ISO semi-automatic twist-locks to handle 20 and 40-foot ISO containers, weighing less than 3,500 pounds in order to meet the Army's current lift and reach capabilities, meet the maximum ISO capacity rating of 67,200 pounds, and does not require external power for operation. The lightweight adjustable spreader bar will be procured to replace the current single 20 Foot and 40 Foot spreader bars in the Army's inventory. The lightweight adjustable spreader bar will reduce transportation burden of deploying heavier multiple spreaders bars, meet current maximum ISO rating of 67,200 pounds for both size containers. We intend on issuing a three-year requirements contract for the production of approximately 245 lightweight adjustable spreader bars (quantity subject to change). Potential sources should be capable of providing life cycle support and customer service, LINKURL: http://www.tacom.army.mil/acqcen/ssn/sources.htm LINKDESC: <A HREF="http://www.tacom.army.mil/acqcen/ssn/sources.htm">Sources Sought: SPREADER BARS </A> Posted 03/24/00 (W-SN438009).
