Project work includes the removal of approximately 600,000 cubic yards of shoal material from Cut-A; Outer Cut; Entrance Channel; Turning Basin; Cut-B; Bayboro Harbor Basin; Salt Creek; and the U.S. Coast Guard Basin. The quantity may include a minor amount of natural bottom material which may be removed from within the allowable overdepth. All dredged material will be placed on the beach disposal area located along the northwest side of Egmont Key. The contract will also require the construction of two geotextile groins running perpendicular to the beach at the northwest corner of Egmont Key. Total length of geotextile groins to be placed will be approximately 650 feet. Equipment needed would include, but not be limited to, the following: Dredge and all support equipment, bulldozer, and marine equipment for transporting bulldozers and other equipment to the beach disposal area which is accessible only by water. Construction time is 240 calendar days. Magnitude of construction is between $5,000,000 and$10,000,000. Solicitation will be issued on or about 11 April 2000 and open on or about 30 May 2000.
