The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIRSYSCOM) Patuxent River intends to award additional work via modification on contract N00019-98-C-0040 to Lockheed Martin Aeronautical Systems Corporation, 86 South Cobb Drive, Marietta, GA 30063. This added work includes 2 S-3B CAINS/EGI/EFI/ and DC Power upgrade modifications to S-3B maintenance trainer suites as well as 2 S-3B CAINS/EGI/EFI/ and DC Power upgrade installations into S-3B maintenance trainer suites. As the designer, developer and sole manufacturer of the S-3B aircraft and the developer and prime integrator of the initial S-3B CAINS effort, LMASC is the only source that possesses the necessary technical expertise to perform the total weapons systems integration effort consistent with critical mission milestones. It is in the Government's best interest to award sole-source to Lockheed Martin Aeronautical Systems Corporation and is done so under FAR 6.302-1: Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements.
