58 -- INTERGRATED HAND HELD CHEMICAL AGENT & RADIATION DETECTOR WITH REMOTE COMMUNICATION CAPABILITIES POC Benjamin Zaslow, 703-784-5822 x223 E-MAIL: Click Here for Contract Specialist: Benjamin Zaslow, zaslowb@mcsc.usmc.mil. The Marine Corps Systems Command (MARCORSYSCOM) has a requirement for an Integrated Hand Held Chemical Agent and Radiation Detector with remote communication capabilities. Because MARCORSYSCOM does not believe a commercial market exists for products of a similar nature, it plans to make a sole source award to Environmental Technologies Group, Inc., Baltimore, MD. The Chemical Agent and Radiation Detector is intended to support the three-phase deployment of the Chemical and Biological Incident Response Force (CBIRF), by providing each phase with detection and identification capabilities of Blister, Nerve and riot control agents, as well as detection of gamma radiation. Due to the CBIRF's unique operating environments, there is a need to reduce the equipment burden on the CBIRF. The detector must be hand held (one hand) with a weight of no more than 8 lbs. This multifunctional detector must detect Nerve, Blister and riot control agents within seconds, down to the ppb levels. The radiation detector must detect the presence of gamma radiation within the 0.1-100 mREM range. The detector mounted radio transmitter will allow CBIRF to effectively communicate threat conditions, with real-time agent detection and transmission of agent and/or radiation data automatically transmitted to a remote site receiver. The system must have a minimum transmission range of a quarter mile in urban environments, and at least one mile in open environments. The system must also include data logging capabilities to allow for accurate record keeping by providing time, date, agent identification and relative concentrations of each alarm situation. Parties who believe they have a product currently available which meets these Marine Corps requirements, are requested to provide a description including technical literature to the address shown above. All responses to this announcement must be made in writing. Numbered Note 22 applies.***** Posted 03/28/00 (W-SN438607). (0088)
