Activity Mediterranean invites bids for the construction of the
following project: Restore Airfield Lighting, Aviano Air Base, Italy.
This project includes repairs to the deteriorated and obsolete Airfield
Lighting systems on the runways and taxi tracks at Aviano AB, Italy.
Specific works proposed for this project include replacing: (1) the
airfield lighting control system, airfieldlighting regulators, power
switchboards, generators, generator controls, transfer switches, power
and control wiring in two airfield lighting vaults, (2) Threshhold,
Runway/Overrun and Taxiway/Taxi track edge lighting, isolation
transformers, bases and connecting airfield lighting cable, (3) the
approach lighting system, approach sequence lighting system and the
connecting control and airfield lighting cable, (4) REIL lights and
connecting power cable for Runway 05-23, (5) power and control wiring
to all arrestor gear locations, (6) Taixway Signage, Airfield Beacon,
Obstruction Lights, windsock, controls, control wiring and power
wiring, and (7) associated manholes, hand holes, conduit and duct bank
systems. It is anticipated the successful offeror will be required to
perform work within the runway and taxiway clear zone during
operational quiet hours. The runways and taxiways will remain
operational for aircrafts during this performance period of this
contract. All applicants must be certified by the U.S. Department of
