Notice of intent to award a sole source contract. The Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) intends to negotiate and award a sole source firm-fixed-price contract under the auspices of FAR Part 12, to Campbell Security Equipment Company (CSECO), Pleasant Hill, California for specialized contraband detection equipment and other commercial items used in contraband detection. Specifically the items being procured are: "Buster" Contraband Detector Kits with accessories, Fiberoptics Inspection Kits with accessories, Laser Rangefinders, Telescoping Inspection Mirrors with Flashlights, and Inspection Probes. This is a follow-on procurement to support an existing program. All instructors, participants, and technical supporters of the program have been trained on the CSECO equipment. In order to maintain and promote program effectiveness and consistency, the same equipment must be procured. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS AND NO SOLICITATION DOCUMENT WILL BE ISSUED. Interested parties have three (3) days from the date of publication of this Synopsis, to submit in writing, to the identified point of contact, clear and convincing evidence of their qualifications and/or capabilities. Such qualifications and/or capabilities will be used solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. Responses received after three (3) days, or without the required information, will be considered non-responsive to this synopsis and will not be considered. A determination by the Government to not conduct this effort as a full-and-open competitive procurement, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the Government.
