E-MAIL: Gary A. Golinski, Gary.A.Golinski@grc.nasa.gov. NASA/GRC plans to issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for a NG:YAG Laser System for use in Particle Imaging Velocimetry. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). NASA/GRC intends to purchase the items from New Wave Research of Fremont California. The laser shall be purchased on a sole source basis under the authority of 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1) as implemented by Federal Acquisition Regulations Part 6.302-1(b)(1) that is; unique supplies or services available from only one source or only one supplier with unique capabilities. The laser must be compatible with existing cameras, timing electronics and software. The compact size of the unit, 14.25"x6.5"x3.25" (LxWxH) is essential for the successful integration of the laser into a microgravity drop rig. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact notlater than 4:30 p.m. local time on April 5, 2000. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government.
