Special Services Division requires Infectious Medical Waste Disposal
Units -- Steam Sterilizer Macerator & Ancillary Supplies/Services. The
requirements include systems that are capable of processing 150-160
pounds per hour 200,000 to 550,000 pounds per year and less than 250,00
pounds. The proposed system/s shall have proven technology, sterilize
infectious medical waste (including sharps and sharps containers) in a
closed environment using steam and superheated water and result in
waste that is non-infectious, non-hazardous and non-recognizable. The
process shall dispose of more than typical medical waste, such as:
blood bag units, animal bedding, small animals, medical waste that is
past its radioactive half-life, laboratory waste (including culture
plates), medical or patient records, classified documents. The system
shall be capable of processing both liquids and solids at the same
time. The system shall be capable of processing in such a way that
there are no harmful air emissions, it uses no toxic chemicals, leaves
no offensive odor after processing and produces a computer-generated
verifiable sterilization record. This is issued as a request for an
indefinite delivery indefinite quantity type contract with four options
to extend the term of the contract for the systems that may be used on
a non-mandatory basis by Government Activities to include, but not
limited to VA, Air Force, Army, Navy, as a source of supplies for the
equipment described herein, for government activities located within
the 50 states, Washington, D.C., and overseas. The government
guarantees as a minimum the acquisition of 1 system. The contractor
shall be responsible for training user personnel in the operation and
care of the system. The training shall include, at a minimum, actual
demonstration and operation of the equipment including adjustments.
Delivery: FOB Destination 30 days ARO desired. The Offeror shall
guarantee availability of servicing and replacement of parts for the
life expectancy of the equipment. All responsible sources may submit an
offer. Requests for hard copy solicitation must be in writing to the
Contracting Officer and accompanied by a check for $5.00 made out to
the Department of Veterans Affairs. No telephone requests will be
