intent of this contract is to secure services for precommercial
thinning and release of approximately 34 acres on the Happy Camp Ranger
District. The project consists of contractor selecting leave trees,
cutting of non-leave trees, and slash treatment. Contractor shall
provide transportation, supervision and supplies necessary to perform
the work. Due to slide condition, all but two of Big Buck units are
inaccessable by truck. Contractor will need ATV's or other means of
efficiently accessing units. All units less 10 acres have a limited
operating period (LOP) for owls. Units in Big Buck sale area have an
LOP for the marbled murrelet (MAMU). The plantations for precommercial
thinning are located throughout the Happy Camp Ranger District,
Klamath National Forest, Siskiyou County, California. This is an
indefinite quantity contract. The minimum order is 260 acres; maximum
order is 370 acres of precommercial thinning. Contract time is 60
calendar days. Date for receipt of quotes has not been established, but
is estimated to be mid May, 2000. Those interested in obtaining a
