US Army Communications-Electronic Command (CECOM) Acquisition Center intends to award a sole source modification to existing Contract DAAB07-99-C-K509. The contract modification will extend the period of performance an additional six months in order to correct any product deficiencies found during Government testing and analysis of the Wideband Power Amplifier (WBPA). Government testing and analysis is scheduled to conclude May 2001. An additional effort will enable the WBPA to interface with the Raytheon Wideband Network Radio (WNR) in addition to the base requirements. The design modification of the WBPA architecture will accommodate a wideband receiver/transmitter interface to operate with legacy radios and the future Joint Tactical Radio System (JTRS). The Government intends to solicit and negotiate with Only One Responsible Source, Xetron, under authority of Title 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1) and FAR 6.302-1(b)(1). It is not feasible that another contractor, other than Xetron Corporation, can adequately perform the required architectural modification within the timeframe to support the Controlled Operational Tests. No solicitation will be forthcoming. A determination not to compete this contract action, based upon responses to this notice, is solely with the discretion of the Government. Reference Note 22.
