Shannon Wagner, swagner@pica.army.mil. The Department of the Army,
TACOM-ARDEC at Picatinny Arsenal, NJ intends to procure engineering
services in support of the Anti-Personnel Landmine Alternative (APL-A)
Program. Specific focus areas will be in communication systems, power
supplies, early warning devices and simulation devices. The contractor
will support the development of simulation devices for the system
engineering test. These devices are expected to be compatible with the
Soldier Integrated Multifunction Laser System (SIMLAS) or Multiple
Integrated Laser Engagement System (MILES) systems and must interface
with multiple munitions configurations. The contractor shall provide
support to the prime development contractors on the selection and
design of early-warning devices to augment the basic APL-A munitions.
The contractor shall evaluate different technologies, which are
required for development of early warning devices. Technologies such as
acoustic/seismic as used in the Improved-REMote Battlefield Sensor
System ((I-REMBAS); radar, as used in proximity fuzes; or laser
scanning beam as in SIMLAS soldier detector system. The period of
performance will be for one year. A sole source acquisition is intended
for Campagnuolo Associates, 8009 Post Oak Road, Potomac, MD 20854. SEE
