DUE 051900 POC Marian Ropelewski (412) 365-5455 The Government has a
requirement for professional Architect/Engineering Services, with IH
Services, to provide design for Project 646-361, "Correct Life Safety
Deficiency" at the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System, University Drive,
Pittsburgh, PA 15240. Project includes relocation of the hemodialysis
unit (approx. 7,000 sqf) and installation of stairwell on southeast
side of building adjacent to Medical Records wing. All designs shall be
in accordance with NFPA, VA guidelines and directives, VA master
specifications and all other applicable codes. A/E shall be responsible
for site survey to evaluate existing conditions, coordinate, review and
consultation thru completion of the entire project. A/E is also
responsible for providing professional Industrial Hygiene services to
perform asbestos survey, investigations, bulk sampling, asbestos
removal specifications and drawings, monitoring in appropriate areas
and construction period services. A/E shall review existing VAMC
as-built information; perform site investigation surveys, prepare
schematics and design development drawings and specifications; attend
design review meetings (reviews will be at 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%),
submit report with recommendations/options for replacement complete
with cost options; thirty (30) copies of construction documents
(complete set of drawings, including required notes, details, legends,
locations of equipment, etc.) and contract specifications (review and
include all applicable specification sections) with a construction
cost estimate. Drawings will also be submitted on AutoCAD V.14 and
specification in Microsoft Word versions. During construction period
A/E will coordinate, review, provide consultation, witness acceptance
tests where required with site visits/inspections to ensure work is
being completed in accordance with contract requirements, furnish
reports to VA and provide accurate as-builts, one complete set in mylar
and one complete set in AutoCAD format. Procurement is issued IAW the
Small Business Competitiveness Demonstration Program. SIC Code is 8712
with the small business size standard at $4M. Construction cost
estimate is between $2,000,000 and $5,000,000. Award will be to the A/E
judged by the VA to be the best qualified for the work. See Numbered
Note 24 for evaluation criteria with special qualification for A/E to
have knowledge of healthcare facilities and prior successful experience
designing projects of this size, nature and cost and area of
consideration limited to a 60-mile radius from the VA Pittsburgh
Healthcare System, University Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15240. This is not
