combined/synopsis/solicitation for a commercial item, Automated Peptide
Synthesizer. The U.S. Army Materiel Command, Acquisition Center,
Natick, Mass. intends to purchase one synthesizer. This announcement
constitutes the only solicitation: Quotations are being requested and
a written solicitation will not be issued. Quotations may be in the
vendor's format, but must address all the requirements herein. This is
a 100% set-aside for Small Business. The applicable Standard
Industrial Classification (SIC) is 3829 with a size standard of 500
employees. The general specifications for the Automated Peptide
Synthesizer are as follows: 1) Ability to synthesize up to 96 different
peptides or bio-organic compounds simultaneously; 2) Must allow for
standard Fmoc, Boc, or any other protection strategy and solid-phase
organic chemistry procedures; 3) Automated cleavage must be possible;
4) Must have an integrated variable speed mixer; 5) Must conduct
synthesis in the batch mode; 6)Liquid handling must be robotically
driven with syringe pumps and a multiprobe solvent delivery system;
7)Computer controlled dual independent robotic arm with liquid level
detection; 8) Must have interchangeable reactors with a 5umol to 1mmol
range of synthesis scale and 9) Should have the capability of
utilizing bulk reagents and operate in an enclosed work area. Computer
requirements are as follows: 1) Computer must be at least a Pentium II
class PC with Microsoft Windows-based software and compatible color
printer. 2) Software must control all robotic liquid handling
procedures; 3) Software must control all synthesis procedures for full
automation. Other requirements: 1) Complete installation and 1 day of
training on site; 2) On-site warranty for one year on parts, labor and
travel; 3) 3-day training course at a corporate sponsored training
facility; and 4) Full CE and UL compliance. Packaging and Marking shall
be commercial packaging. Delivery shall be FOB Destination. This
acquisition will be solicited and awarded on a firm-fixed price basis.
In order to be eligible for award, contractors must be registered in
the Central Contractor Registry, http://www.ccr2000.com/ This RFQ
incorporates clauses in effect through The Defense Acquisition Circular
97-16. The Government intends to award to the vendor who offers the
lowest price and meets the requirements. The Far provision 52.212-1,
Instruction of Offerors-Commercial, applies to this solicitation, as do
the following clauses: 51.212-3, 52.212-4, 52.243-1. The following
DFAR's clauses apply: 252.204-7004. If quoters have any questions
