COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF APRIL 4,2000 PSA#2571LABORATORY JFT-6 FOR POINT BIOLOGICAL DETECTORS AND/OR IDENTIFIERS The
Joint Program Office for Biological Defense (JPO-BD) is sponsoring the
laboratory portion of JFT-6 in January 2001 at Dugway Proving Ground
(DPG), Utah. This test will accommodate biological detection and/or
identification components that require a liquid sample to initiate
detection and/or analysis. Candidate technologies will be assessed for
potential inclusion into fielded programs such as Portal Shield and
the Biological Integrated Detection System (BIDS) as well as new
emerging systems such as the Joint Biological Point Detection System
(JBPDS). Participating developers will have the unique opportunity to
obtain performance data based on killed Agents of Biological Origin
(ABO) rather than biological agent simulants. It should be noted that
JFT-6 outdoor trials and JFT-6 Aerosol Simulant Exposure Chamber (ASEC)
trials for Biological Point Detection will be conducted in September
2000 and November 2000 respectively. Their respective CBD Net
Submission Numbers are 417265 and 439676. Both can be found in the CBD
Net Special Notices archives. Each JFT is announced separately. To be
considered for participation, developers/sponsors must supply the
following information in writing no later than 16 June 2000: A
description of the device, its capabilities and the technology it
employs; all relevant test reports; how long the item has been in
development and/or production. Information must be sent to the
following address: JPO-BD ATTN: SFAE-BD (Ms. Trudel) 5201 Leesburg
Pike, Suite 1200 Falls Church, VA 22041-3203 All recipients of this
announcement letter are encouraged to share this information with other
developers and/or potential interested parties. As always, the JFT
itself will be funded by JPO-BD. Participants, however, are expected to
fund their own travel costs and accommodations. Participants are also
expected to fund their own development efforts or seek sponsorship from
an R&D government agency. Questions regarding JFT-6 can be directed to
Nicole Trudel, (703) 681-4947. Questions regarding reagents can be
directed to Melisa Mahoney, (703) 681-5188. To learn more about JPO-BD
