The Social Security Administration (SSA) intends to issue a sole source purchase order under Simplified Acquisition procedures to Nexdata Solutions Incorporated, 2585 Central Avenue, Suite 100, Boulder Colorado, 80301 for maintenance (upgrades, modifications and enhancements) of retrieval engine software for the period 4/10/00 through 4/9/01. SSA believes that Nexdata is the only vendor able to provide the required maintenance. Nexdata developed the retrieval engine software under a competitively awarded contract, and has maintained the retrieval engine software since 1994. The software is proprietary to Nexdata and tied directly with the data preparation and premastering processing performed by the Government Printing Office. This is an announcement of SSA's intent to issue an order to Nexdata Solutions Inc. for the software maintenance; SSA will not issue a solicitation. SSA will not respond to requests for solicitation copies and will not pay for information received in response to this announcement. Responses must provide sufficient information for SSA to determine that a firm other than Nexdata can maintain the retrieval engine software. If SSA does not receive an acceptable response to this announcement within 3 days of its publication, it will issue a purchase order to Nexdata for one year's maintenance of the retrieval engine software.
