PREPARED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE FORMAT IN SUBPART 12.6, AS
SUPPLEMENTED WITH ADDITIONAL INFORMATION INCLUDED IN THIS NOTICE. THIS
ANNOUNCEMENT CONSTITUTES THE ONLY SOLICITATION; A WRITTEN SOLICITATION
WILL NOT BE ISSUED. This solicitation is a Request for Quote. The
solicitation and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in
effect through Federal Acquisition Circular (FAC) 97-16. The Centers
for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC), National Center for
Environmental Health, intends to purchase a dynamic reaction cell (DRC)
inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICP-MS) from Perkin
Elmer's Inorganic Division for use in the analysis of clinical samples,
including such analyses as low level chromium in serum. Peripherals
shall include associated computer hardware (workstation, monitor and
printer) and software, along with an interface chiller and
computer-controlled autosampler. CDC believes that its requirements are
only met by the Perkin Elmer ELAN 6100 DRC instrument; however all
responsible sources that can meet the requirements listed below may
submit a quote which will be considered by the agency. The instrument
must be capable of being set for standard operation mode for use as a
backup unit to other ICP-MS instruments; be capable of blending in
gases such as ammonia, methane and hydrogen to reduce interference by
reacting with undesirable, potentially interfering molecule ions which
arise from interaction with matrix materials and the plasma argon gas;
allow the user to selectively remove interferences; and be capable of
analyses such as analyzing low level chromium in serum. Delivery will
be FOB Destination to CDC/NCEH, 4770 Buford Highway, Atlanta, GA,
within 45 calendar days after receipt of order. The acceptance location
shall be CDC/NCEH, 4770 Buford Highway, Atlanta, GA. Installation, user
