68 -- HOTSTAR TAQ MASTER MIX KIT SOL RFQ-NCI-00101-NR DUE 042200 POC Marsha Gorham, Purchasing Agent (301)402-4509 & Gail Zois, Contracting Officer The National Institutes of Health, National Cancer Institute (NCI), Medicine Branch, intends to procure on a sole-source basis with Qiagen Inc., 28519 Avenue Stanford, Valencia, California 91355 under the authority of 41.U.S.C. 253(c)(1), FAR 6.302-1 for a Hot Star Taq Master Mix Kit. The Medicine Branch provides a high through-put DNA analysis using the latest micro-array technology. The master mix kit contains three unique features: (1) It contains a modified form of DNA polymerase which is the enzyme needed to carry out PCR. (2). The PCR buffer encourages the amplification of specific PCR products by promoting a high ratio of specific to non-specific primer binding during the annealing step in each cycle; and (3) There is a unique solution in which the kit facilitates amplification of difficult templates by modifying the melting behavior of the DNA. Qiagen Inc is the only source known to NCI that can provide this product that is required for this effort. In the product, the solutions have been used as a part of the cDNA Micro-Array analysis process and the variables cannot be changed in the experimental design at this time without negative effects on the ongoing analyses. This is not a request for competitive quotation, however, if any interested party believes it can meet the above requirement, they may submit a statement of capabilities.
