This RFP is to design and manufacture a new Airborne Fire Fighting System (AFFS) for the U.S. Forest Service and the Air Force Air National Guard that will have roll on and roll off capability and operation on C-130E/H/J and J-30 aircraft. The new AFFS shall meet the Interagency Airtanker Board (IAB) requirements. The new system will be designed to improve the retardant coverage levels through the use of multiple compartment release control, prevent retardant from spraying onto and back into the aircraft structure during the drop, reduce fire retardant spills, increase the Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) of the system, and increase the retardant volume from 3000 gallons up to the maximum Allowable Cabin Load (ACL) or the C-130 aircraft.
