TO PRODUCE THREE HUNDRED M795, 155MM HF1 PROJECTILE FORGINGS IN SUPPORT
OF A SOFT IRON ROTATING BAND WELD STUDY. THE GOAL OF THIS EFFORT IS TO
YIELD A MINIMUM OF 100 FINISHED M795 PROJECTILES WITH SOFT IRON
ROTATING BAND FOR BALLISTIC TESTING AND EVALUATION. THE REMAINING M795
PROJECTILE FORGINGS WILL BE DESIGNATED FOR PROCESS DEVELOPMENT,
TESTING AND REJECTS. IN ORDER TO ADEQUATELY SUPPORT THIS EFFORT, THE
CONTRACTOR SHALL HAVE THE CAPABILITY TO PROCURE HF1 STEEL, PERFORM HF1
BILLET FORGING, ROUGH MACHINING, HEAT TREATMENT, FINISH MACHINING,
ULTRASONIC AND MAGNETIC PARTICLE TESTING,PAINTING AND FINAL INSPECTION.
THE PARTS FURNISHED UNDER THIS SOLICITATION SHALL BE DELIVERED UNDER
THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE M795 PRODUCT SPECIFICATION, MIL-P-63245B,
AMENDMENT 3, PROJECTILE, HE, 155MM, M795 METAL PARTS ASSEMBLY, WITH THE
EXCEPTION OF THE ROTATING BAND SEAT AND FINAL BAND DIMENSIONS, WHICH
ARE SPECIFIED BY DRAWING NUMBERS SK00001 AND SK00003 RESPECTIVELY. THE
GOVERNMENT WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR WELDING THE ROTATING BANDS AND FOR
THE POST WELD STRESS RELIEF AT THE ARDEC WELDING TECHNOLOGY CENTER,
PICATINNY ARSENAL, NJ. THE GOVERNMENT IS PLANNING TO AWARD A SOLE
SOURCE MODIFICATION TO CHAMBERLAIN MANUFACTURING CORPORATION, THE
