COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF APRIL 7,2000 PSA#2574Department of the Navy, Naval Sea Systems Command, 2531 Jefferson Davis
Highway, Arlington, VA 22242-5160 R -- PROFESSIONAL, ADMINISTRATIVE AND MANAGEMENT SUPPORT SERVICES POC
Contract Specialist, Anthony Carlisi, 703 607 2555!! The Naval Sea
Systems Command (NAVSEA) is planning to reduce infrastructure and
generate savings through improvement in our current business processes
and practices. As part of this effort, we are exploring a new business
approach in acquiring support services requirements. The impending move
by NAVSEA to the Washington Navy Yard in 2001 also requires us to
re-examine our current practices and business processes in acquiring
support services. Our goal is not just to maintain the quality of
services currently provided but realize cost efficiencies and improve
the way in which support services are acquired. To accomplish these
objectives, NAVSEA will use Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity
(IDIQ) multiple award contracts. This will encompass functional
requirements such as program management, engineering, logistics, and
financial services in which there would be qualified vendors to compete
for task orders. This change in NAVSEA's business approach of acquiring
support services is not intended to preclude participation by existing
support contractors and subcontractors, nor is it intended to reduce
the opportunity for small and small disadvantaged businesses. On April
26, 2000, beginning at 10:00 a.m. through 1:00 p.m. an Industry Forum
will be held to discuss NAVSEA's intentions. The Forum will provide an
overview of the newly established Support Services Acquisition Program
Office (SSAPO), focus on the results of the Contractor Efficiency
Working Groups (CEWG) including responding to the questions that were
submitted in response to the Industry Forum on 6/28/99 and discuss
NAVSEA's plans to utilize multiple award IDIQ contracts. The Industry
Forum will be held at the Crystal Forum, Crystal City Marriott, 1999
Jefferson Davis Highway Arlington, VA 22202. Space is limited,
therefore it is requested that participants be restricted to no more
than two (2) persons per Company/Government. All questions regarding
the Industry Forum are to be submitted to Mr. Anthony Carlisi, Contract
Specialist by April 19,2000, via Fax. Mr. Carlisi's Fax number is (703)
