Contract Specialist, 301/402-3080 The National Institutes of Health,
National Institutes of Alcohol, Abuse and Alcoholism, Bethesda, MD,
intends to negotiate with MedData Research, Inc. 9848 Faust Dr.,
Vienna, Virginia 22182, the only known source, under the authority of
FAR 6.302-1 for these particular services. The purpose of the project
is to assist in the development and expansion of computer systems used
for medical image processing, neurophysio- logical data acquisition
and analysis, data management of research data, and basic research. The
contractor shall provide engineering, consulting, programming and data
processing services for the NIAAA. Specifically, the contractor shall
provide 1) Support to analyze brain image data. The imaging data
includes Positron Emission Tomography (PET), Computed Axial Tomography
(CAT) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). The scans are performed at
the NIH Clinical Center by the departments of Nuclear Medicine and
Diagnostic Radiology, and the in vivo NMR Center. The images are stored
on the DEC3000/600S and VAX4000/200 server computers and will be
displayed on VaxStation 4000/90, DECStation 3000/600, SUN and HP
9000/735 workstations, and, 2) The contractor shall provide additional
support to analyze EEG, evoked potential and eye movement data
collected from protocols performed by the NIAAA. The data for these
protocols are collected on Linux, IBM (or IBM clone) PCs and Apple
Macintosh computer systems utilizing specialized instrumentation.
Analysis of this data is performed on the aforementioned computer
systems and the HP 9000/735 workstation. The contractor shall be
required to furnish personnel in the following labor categories: senior
level scientist, senior level engineer, senior level systems analyst
and programmer, junior level programmer/engineer, junior level research
assistant and technical writer. The performance period shall be for a
twelve month period, with four (4) additional twelve month option
periods. The Governemnt reserves the right to exercise the options.
Deliverables includemonthly progress status reports. The Contractor
will be paid on a monthly basis following satisfactory performance of
the aforementioned services. Interested persons may identify to the
Contracting Officer their interest and capability to satisfy the
Government's requirement with a within 45 days of this notice. A
determination by the Government not to compete with this proposed
contract based upon responses to the notice is solely within the
discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be
considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a
