(401) 832-4820 WEB: Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division, Newport,
http://www.npt.nuwc.navy.mil/contract/. E-MAIL: Elizabeth Alexander,
Contracting Officer, alexanderea@npt.nuwc.navy.mil. The solicitation is
amended to include the following questions/clarifications to the
specifications: Q. 1. There is statement "The analog data will be
received through (favorable) Front Panel Data Port .". Should this not
read "The digital data will be ."? A. 1. The data input will be
differential analog (not the standard FPD). There will be 96 input pins
using a military connector to be determined. Q. 2. The specs call for
8 channel systems scaleable to 32 channel systems. There are two ways
this can be done. Which do you require? A. 2. The initial system is to
be delivered with 8 channels. Upgrade to 32 channels is required. The
upgrade should not span more than 2 VME slots. Q 3. Is the
demodulation/down conversion/tuning of the signals required to be real
or complex or both? A3. Complex Q. 4. The use of 100BaseT Ethernet to
output time series data puts a restriction on the maximum data rate
and hence bandwidth that can be handled by the system. a) What is the
actual desired bandwidth per channel? 2k for 3 Bands 16 K for the
fourth. b) Does the data have to be transferred continuously or is it
a block mode type transfer? Block mode: Channel 1 Band 1 2K samples
Band 2 2 K samples Band 3 16 K samples Band 4 2K samples Channel 2 Band
1 2K samples Band 2 2 K samples Band 3 16 K samples Band 4 2K samples
Channel N Band 1 2K samples Band 2 2 K samples Band 3 16 K samples Band
4 2K samples c)What is the desired resolution of the output time
series, e.g. 8-bit, 16-bit, 32 bits fixed point, 32-bit floating point?
32 Integer d)If the system is scaled up to 32 channels will more
Ethernet ports be added or will the bandwidth per channel be reduced?
No. Q. 5 There are some specs about interpolation filter lengths,
interpolation resolution etc. What does the term interpolation apply to
in this context? Is it the down-conversion cos(wt) multiplying vector?
Or is system supposed to be used for something other than just tuning
in around an IF ( e.g Beam forming where an interpolating filter would
be used)? A.5 Downconversion Q. 6 Is there a preferred choice of
algorithm to be used for computing filter coefficients( e.g Parks
Mcllelan, Remez etc) or will any optimal filter that meets the specs be
acceptable? A.6. Non-specific. Must meet specs Q. 7 What is the
preferred mode of control of the MCAA? If a VxWorks based system is bid
then the most obvious choices are over Ethernet or a serial terminal.
If a Solaris based system is bid it can over the aforementioned or over
a directly attached monitor/keyboard-mouse combination. A.7. The system
must run a real time OS (VxWorks). The controller will boot up from
flash. There will be no hard drive. The system can be considered
embedded. The closing date remains unchanged. Posted 04/07/00
