The United States Marine Corps (USMC) is conducting a market investigation to identify sources that are capable of providing commercially available (or modifications thereto) off the shelf utility uniforms and covers for potential replacement of the current USMC Battle Dress Uniform (BDU). The USMC is seeking innovative design ideas and materials capable of performing in very demanding environments and conditions. The uniform must have a highly durable construction with functional design features to be compatible with military missions, interface well with the individual Marine and the individual combat equipment worn. The fabric must be lightweight with high tear strength, tensile strength and good abrasion resistance. New camouflage patterns are also being sought which at a minimum provide good visual concealment and equal reflectance to all combat backgrounds when viewed under image intensification, with a desired reduce emmissivity to match the combat backgrounds when viewed with thermal sights. Samples are highly desired, although not required. Current product literature, price lists, specifications, test reports, and information on uniforms, covers and materials are requested. Manufacturer's uniform or materials will not be disseminated outside of the Government. Any information that is submitted by a firm will not be returned and the Government will make no payment for samples and/or data. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL. No solicitation document is available at this time. The information received under this market investigation may be used to formulate concepts and a possible acquisition strategy. Please submit any information or samples no later than May 5, 2000 to the following address: U.S. Army SBCCOM, SSC, Attn: Dee Townes, Building D230-B, Kansas St., Natick, MA 01760-5019.
