Control and Prevention (CDC) have a requirement to study workplace
exacerbation of asthma. Specific aims include but are not limited to
the following: 1) Determine the frequency of workplace exacerbation of
asthma; 2) Determine the circumstances at work associated with
exacerbation of asthma; 3) Determine the social and economic costs
associated with workplace exacerbation of asthma. The study subjects
will be adults who have asthma and have taken asthma medication during
the previous year. Parts of the project involve conducting interviews
using a CATI system and administering spirometry tests to study
subjects. This study is a three-phase study expected to last three
years. Solicitation No. 200-2000-08008(P) will be available on or about
April 28, 2000 and proposals are due on or about May 30, 2000. No
