COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF APRIL 11,2000 PSA#2576MEETING FOR VENDORS WITH MERCURY CONTINUOUS EMISSION MONITORS U.S. EPA
ENVIRONMENTAL TECHNOLOGY VERIFICATION (ETV) PROGRAM ADVANCED
MONITORING SYSTEMS PILOT MEETING FOR VENDORS WITH MERCURY CONTINUOUS
EMISSION MONITORS The National Exposure Research Laboratory (NERL),
Office of Research and Development (ORD), U.S. Environmental Protection
Agency (U.S.EPA), Research Triangle Park (RTP), North Carolina 27711,
and Battelle, Columbus, Ohio, are partners in an Environmental
Technology Verification (ETV) pilot for Advanced Monitoring Systems
(AMS). The goal of ETV is to verify the performance characteristics of
commercially ready environmental technologies so potential purchasers
and permitters are provided with an independent and credible
assessment of the technology they are buying or permitting. The AMS
pilot is focused on verifying air, water, and soil monitoring
technologies. The AMS pilot's next vendor meeting will be held April
18, 2000, at the U.S. EPA's Environmental Research Center, 86 T.W.
Alexander Drive, Research Triangle Park, NC. The meeting is for vendors
interested in discussing the possible performance testing of continuous
emission monitors (CEMs) for mercury. The purpose of this vendor
meeting is to obtain initial comments from CEM vendors and other
interested parties, as the basis for preparing a draft test/quality
assurance plan for verification testing of mercury CEMs. Participants
will be invited to comment on the readiness of commercial CEMs for
testing, necessary test procedures, reference methods to be used for
comparison, and possible test schedules. The meeting is open to members
of the public, who are asked to pre-register. This verification test
will be performed in collaboration with U.S. EPA's ORD National Risk
Management Research Laboratory (NRMRL) Air Pollution Prevention and
Control Division. For more information about the AMS pilot and vendor
opportunities for technology verification or to register for this
vendor meeting, contact Helen Latham at Battelle, 505 King Avenue,
