This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; and a written solicitation will not be issued. The solicitation clauses and provisions are those in effect through FAR Circular 97-06. The Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) Code for this acquisition is 3826. The Food and Drug Administration has a requirement for the Center for Safety and Applied Nutrition for a Brand name or equal Scan RDI Microbiology System, Chemunex catalog number 210-A00002-02 and a Motorized Microscope Stage, Chemunex catalog number 200-B0540-01. The Scan RDI is an automated system to directly detect individual microbial cells without the need for a time-consuming growth stage. It combines fluorescent cell labeling and laser scanning technologies for enhanced cell detection. Samples are collected on a membrane filter. Fluorescent markers are then used to highlight individual, viable cells on the filter. The laser scanner and sensitive reader rapidly show and enumerate the target cells within 3 minutes, without requiring cell growth. System should include the following: Scan RDI, real time Microbiology Analyzer for direct detection and enumeration. Main unit, scanning laser reader for 25 mm filtration membranes, two detection channels [green and red], optional third channel, motorized drawer mechanism, continuous laser power monitoring system and voltage: 11v. Laser Unit Tower, fiber optic connection to main unit [max 3 meters], 488 mm excitation wavelength, local air cooling system, voltage: 110v. Computer and Peripherals, Gateway 2000 Pentium II 300 MHz, 98 Mb RAM, 6 Gb Hard Disk, with keyboard and mouse, CD-ROM drive, monitor SVGA 15:, HP DeskJet 690 Printer, Windows NT4 pre-loaded. Integrated Software, software for statistical data processing including histograms, trends, results display, zoom, expert system; signal discrimination based onsignal to noise, 2D gaussian fit, ratio, and peak intensities. Other devices should include one reagent starter kit for 100 TVC tests, three membrane holders, one bead reference membrane. Validation Documents, IQ-OQI-OQ2-PQ1-PQ2. Motorized microscope stage, used in conjunction with an epifluorescent microscope, the automated stage enables direct microscope examination of scanned membranes. The stage can be used with most epifluorescent microscopes [Olympus, Nikon, Leitz, Seiss, Leica] Includes: motorized stage, software and control keypad and joystick.
