DRIVER WORK ZONE SAFETY AWARENESS TRAINING,
http://www.eps.gov/cgi-bin/WebObjects/EPS?ACode=P&ProjID=DTFH61-00-R-00029&LocID=30. The Federal Highway Administration has a
requirement for a study to develop and implement training, educational
and outreach materials to foster a heightened awareness of work zones
among new drivers. The objective of this contract is to increase
driver safety and awareness during the operation of a vehicle. The
focus of the contractors efforts should be on highway work zone
construction sites and the inherent dangers involved with navigating
these sites. However; it is not expected that work zone construction
sites will be the sole area of traffic safety to be considered. The
desired outcome of this contract is to develop a program that will
heighten the awareness of new drivers to unsafe conditions on the
roadways. Additionally, the new drivers work zone education and
awareness program should have the effect of reducing the number of
accidents and crash related deaths, particularly within work zones, by
20% over the next 6 years. Finally, it is the objective of this
contract to, at least, maintain the Level of Service (LOS) within work
zones during construction operations through a lower percentage of
accidents. This solicitation, all related documents and amendments, if
any, will only be released and available electronically through the
Electronic Posting System (EPS) at http://www.eps.gov under the "EPS
for Vendors" option followed by selection of the "DOT" Center. As such,
no written, telephonic, facsimile or email requests for the
solicitation package will be accepted. Interested parties can register
at the aforementioned site to receive procurement announcements by
