The DOT, Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) intends to negotiate on a SOLE-SOURCE contract based on unique capability with the National Academy of Sciences (NAS), 2101 Constitution Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20418. The goals and objectives of this contract are to provide services to assist the FHWA in the establishment of an orderly connection among the various highway R&T programs and to accomplish the following: Support a national and international highway Research & Technology (R&T) program. Encourage and promote the establishment of research activities with all highway agencies. Assist in the operation and maintenance of the Transportation Research Information Services (TRIS) Disseminate highway research results and promote implementation and technology transfer. Conduct a research and technology coordination and communications program. Conduct special studies, reviews, and conferences in response to demands of the international, national, regional, and local transportation community to address issues of significant priority and immediate need.
