E-MAIL: Maria D. Hutcheson, maria.d.hutcheson.1@gsfc.nasa.gov. NASA/GSFC plans to issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for NGST SIMULATED SPACE ENVIRONMENT TESTING OF POLYMER FILMS. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). NASA/GSFC intends to purchase the items from Boeing Space and Defense Systems. This requirement is a continuation of the initial evaluation of thin film candidates for NGST which was conducted by Boeing. Since the environmental simulations are dependent on the facility used to perform the simulation, it is necessary to use the same facility for comparing results from multiple simulations. Therefore, it is necessary to perform this task with Boeing to compare results from this test with those from the previous exposure funded through Langley Research Center. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local timeon April 24, 2000. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government.
